The Friends of Mt. Lebanon Public Library have a common concern for the Library's active participation in the community and have strong convictions that good library service is an essential part of everyone's intellectual enrichment. The Friends create public support and assistance for expanding library programs and encourage gifts, endowments and memorials to the library.

Sponsored Activities

Working to promote library services, the Friends organize public events, raise money and sponsor a variety of library activities such as:

• Morning Book Discussion

• Shakespeare Readers

• A strong Genealogy Society

• French, Spanish, and Italian conversation groups

• Other programs feature speakers on local and national events

The Book Cellar

The Friends operate a year-round book shop in the lower level of the library, with all proceeds benefiting the library. Through their efforts, they have helped build and support the library since 1932. Their contributions, including the operation of The Book Cellar (the library's used book store), have enriched library services in the Mt. Lebanon community and provided financial support for projects beyond the funding scope provided by local, regional and state governmental agencies.

• A minimum contribution of $15 a year is required

• The Friends of the Library newsletter will be sent to members six times a year in addition to monthly event notices.
